My favorite classes in school were concert band and jazz band and my band teacher was my favorite teacher every year. I played alto saxophone from Grade 5 to Grade 12, and she was named Rosemarie. (*nerd alert*)
Our band concerts were always a great way of showcasing the work we put into our music, and we went on trips every year to festivals or workshops.
In Grades 7 and 8, I participated in the Saskatchewan Junior Honour Band and learned a lot from both experiences.
Our big band trip was to New Orleans when I was in Grade 10, and this is one of my favorite places ever. We had so much fun!
A few other fun things from over the years: Percussion Ensemble, a small jazz group called Satin Dolls, Pep Band, being in the marching band in the parade, and Jazz in the Park.
