Soul Sounds: I Kept the Roses

This feature showcases some of the music I have been listening to lately. 🎶

New music

I had definitely heard “White Horse” on the radio recently, but I didn’t pay attention to the artist until “I Kept the Roses” came up on YouTube. Tenille Townes has a really cool voice and is Canadian – double awesome! I have had this song on repeat this past week and am loving it. She has some great songs out so far, and I’m really looking forward to hearing what else she puts out! 🥀

Lady A’s newest single is out! I will always love them. 💞

“Mr. Lonely” has been out for 2 months now, and it still doesn’t fail to put a smile on my face. I have somewhat learned the line dance from this video – my goal is to know it by the end of the summer!

Old music

Even though “The Bull” was released in 2017, it was only put out as a single in 2019 – so I’m hearing it a lot on the radio now and it’s one of those songs that makes you smile and sing along every time.

Train jams are some of my favourites, and “I Will Remember” always seems to find its way to the top of the queue.

Other go-to songs

Work involves some longer drives right now, and we blast songs to get our energy up. The best days are when my favourite rock songs come blasting out of the speakers – like “When You Were Young” and anything by Foreigner.

Soul Sounds: If It Wasn’t for the Nights

This feature showcases some of the music I have been listening to lately. 🎶

New music

I unfortunately haven’t explored new music lately. But I am patiently waiting for Clare Bowen’s album to be released in North America while regularly listening to the few singles that are available. I also really like this song she is featured on of her husband’s, Brandon Robert Young. (Which is six months old already…)

Old music

ABBA! They are one of those bands that has a song for every mood and they have so many hits! I finally watched “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” last week and enjoyed it so much. (Lily James seriously crushed it. And the “Waterloo” scene was so amazing.) I also have the ABBA: You Can Dance game and love dancing to all these awesome songs on my Wii. I have had “If It Wasn’t for the Nights” stuck in my head for multiple days now, along with a few others periodically, and I’m not even upset about it.

Other go-to songs

Surprise, surprise: I found another way to mention Kacey Musgraves in a post. (And specifically this one song!) When I need a shower jam or a good dance around the kitchen, I crank up “Velvet Elvis” and feel my soul get happier.

Soul Sounds: Laughing ’til our ribs get tough

This feature showcases some of the music I have been listening to lately. 🎶

New music

“Worth A Shot” by Aaron Pritchett – Such a fun beat and tempo that makes this song so easy to dance to. It makes smile every time!

“I Hate Love Songs” by Kelsea Ballerini – There are only a couple of her songs that I like, and this is one of them!

“All the Beds I’ve Made” by Clare Bowen – I am eagerly (and not at all patiently) waiting for Clare’s album to be released in North America. I love her so much! This song is super chill and lovely.

Old music

Lorde. That is all. I love the style of her music and Pure Heroine is one of my favourite albums. I’m not a fan of Melodrama, so I tend to pretend it doesn’t exist… 😬
“Ribs” is one of my faves from Pure Heroine, and her EP is also great and definitely worth checking out!

Other go-to songs

“Tomorrow Will Be Kinder” by The Secret Sisters – When I need to calm down and take a breather, this is a perfect song to listen to.

Soul Sounds: For The First Time

This feature showcases some of the music I have been listening to lately. 🎶

New music

“Tequila” by Dan + Shay – This song is really fun to sing along to when it comes on the radio while I’m driving home.

“Cry Pretty” by Carrie Underwood – I’m not usually a fan of Carrie’s music, but this song is quite good.

Old music

“For The First Time” by Darius Rucker – This is such a happy song that makes me want to dance and it gets suck in my head so easily!

Other go-to songs

Alessia Cara’s album Know-It-All – This whole album rocks, with my favourite songs being “Wild Things” and “Here.”

Soul Sounds: Summer Fever

This feature showcases some of the music I have been listening to lately. 🎶

New music

“Summer Fever” by Little Big Town – An amazing summer jam that is so easy to fall in love with. It has been my go-to song for the past three weeks!

Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves – This album has been out for three months now and I’m still not over it. The mix of sounds and the typical witty lyrics from Kacey have kept me listening and wanting more, especially “Velvet Elvis” and “Rainbow.”

Old music

The radio is great for reminding me about music that I used to love and play on repeat. And it’s always awesome when I remember all of the lyrics! The country station has played a couple songs by Gretchen Wilson and Sara Evans while I’ve been driving home – these ladies were almost all I listened to for some time in my teen years.

“Redneck Woman” by Gretchen Wilson

“Born to Fly” by Sara Evans

Other go-to songs

“Out of Sight” by Midland

“Different for Girls” by Dierks Bentley ft. Elle King

“Think About You” by Lady Antebellum
